Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

With my window air conditioner do I need to have my VENT OPEN or CLOSED to give me a cooler result?

1. Many window and through-the-wall air conditioners are equipped with an internal vent to bring in fresh air from outside. However, on a hot humid day the vent should be kept closed. It can be opened on a cool night or day when you are running the fan only and want fresh air. Stay cool! :)
2. Closed! the vent will allow fresh air in but it will be hot fresh air and reduce the efficiency of the unit.
3. .......Vent CLOSED,...It recirculates the cold air that's already in the room !!..........With the vent OPEN it brings the FRESH outside air(higher temperature) through the condenser to cool it !!..........VENT CLOSED -- COLDER ROOM = Costs LESS to KEEP cool !!!!....(SAMIAM).....
