Where can I find a portable, free standing air conditioner?
I have a workout room that gets extremely hot while working out. I am trying to find a portable air conditioner that does not need a hose to vent out. There are no windows in the room. Any suggestions?

- go to walmart
- sams, costco, target, sharper image....etc
- I dont think there is such a thing.
- What you are asking for doesn't exist. All air conditioners need to vent hot air. If you have a window unit it vents directly outside. If you buy a free standing unit it still must be vented via a tube. Otherwise it will be blowing cold air out one side and hot air out the other and you will get no net benefit. Your only option is a bucket of ice placed in front of a fan.
- Ha, im with hex.Good luck on finding something like that, best bet might be to get a fan. A/C's have to be vented like he stated.
- Refrigeration (including air conditioning) is the act of moving heat from one place to another. Your refrigerator moves it from inside the cabinet to your kitchen. Likewise, to air condition your workout room, heat will have to be moved somewhere else (like the hose vent that isn't an option for you). Without the ability to move heat out of the space, your only other option is to cool yourself by evaporation. Fans man; fans. Fans blowing on you and fans circulating stuffy air out of room to the rest of your home. Ever fan yourself outside on a 90F day with your hat? Aaaaahhh, that feels good! Well, that was 90F air that induced that sensation when perspiration evaporated from your skin. Good luck!
- You can find a portable air conditioner at http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=portable%20air%20conditioner%20&tag=search0d8-20&index=blended&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325 Good luck!
- There is one called a coldwave , coldspot ?. Used on construction sites , hospitals, & work spaces that need temporary or additional cooling. Try Graingers or Mc masters online stores. On wheels ,do not require venting. Not sure of power requirements The onesI saw have flexible ducts to direct airflow. Best regards
- We use a thing called a Move and Cool at work when we have a ac unit in the computer rooms go down. It has a 10 inch plastic hose that you put out a window , that takes care of the hot air andd it has 2 8 inch tubes for the cold air and they are flexible so you can point them wherever you want. Don't know the price of one but i'm sure it's more expencive than a window banger
