Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

Do all portable air conditioners need an exhaust vent that goes out a window?

I wanted to use one for my office but the window is too far away. Do you know of any where you do not need to the hose to go out a window?

1. Air conditioners work by cooling air blowing out one end, and blowing the hot air they took the heat out of at the other end. So if you sit one anywhere except facing out the window, you'll just get cold AND hot air blowing into the room. Obviously this is not useful. There are no air conditioners that work on any other principles so you can't do anything about it.
2. No, Lowe's has portable air conditioners, on casters so you can move them from room to room. If you don't have a local Lowe's I am sure you can find what you want on the net, But, again, yes, they are available. Okay, I just went to Lowe's , what they have is an evaporative cooler, it is portable, it is not an a/c but a coooler..........
3. Go to Brilliantcooler.com for examples of units that don't need a hose.
4. ALL air conditioners need to be vented. If not through a window a vent can be cut through the wall.
5. All portable ac's need to be exhausted out a window. The hot air and condensed water need to be outside. Not doing so will do no cooling at all. cold air will come out but so will the hot condenser air.
