Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

Why are 2 hose portable air conditioners more efficient than 1 hose ones?

Some portable units have both an intake and exhaust hose to the outside but most have only an exhaust hose. Manufacturers of the 2 hose type claim they are more efficient.I wonder if it's worth having the extra bulky hose.

  2. The main advantage is that you can place the inlet duct somewhere where the hot air has collected and is stagnant, improving circulation AND getting to the source of the heat. For example you would place it near the ceiling in high-ceiling-ed houses since the heat rises and no matter how cool you get the lower areas, when the air warms up, it will more upwards and stagnate. By putting the inlet high, the hot air is sucked in above, cool air is pumped out below and as the cool air rises again, it is not only not nearly as warm as if you were using a non-inlet system to cool the lower areas (so the air conditioner does not have to work so hard cooling the air further = efficiency), but you also create circulation on the room which makes it feel even cooler. 3. more wattage
