Portable air conditioners?

Has anyone here used one of those portable air conditioners that can be moved from room to room? I see them advertised that the only installation is putting a hose through a window. I was wondering if these machines really work the way the advertiser say.

1. My daughter just bought one from Wal*Mart. It is very efficient and she has kept her house quite cool with it. This has been a welcome relief with a new baby in the house. You don't have to crank it to the coldest setting, either to get relief. The first setting is comfortable. Good value for your dollar
2. I just bought one last week on the Internet. An AMCOR 14000BTU for 500 dollars from KINGSTON'S INC. It's a little noisy but my wife loves it & it also heats. If I was you I buy one through the internet only because it's cheaper than any store.good luck
