Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

Portable Air Conditioners-That dont need tubes/pipes going out the window?

I have security screens so i cant really have a portable air con where you have to run a pipe out the window. But i need something to cool my room down. The fan does nothing, just blows hot air! Do portable air cons come without the need for these hoses or do i need something else?

  1. air conditioners need some where to reject the heat that they move our of the conditioned space and they produce water as a by-product of that effort so yes you need to have some access to the outside. allow the piping to exit the window then close it as tight as possible and then nail or screw it shut in that position then fill in the gaps. tmm
  2. I used to have a portable swamp cooler. It didn't have any tubing or piping. I just had to fill the back of it with water. Swamp coolers don't require vents. This site will explain more: http://www.brilliantstore.com/swamp_coolers.html
  3. First, consider cutting an appropriate hole in your security screen. You'll probably be able to do that without defeating its purpose. The better solution would be a window air conditioner and you can have a new security screen made to fit the reduced space. If both of those are out of the running, then try a swamp cooler, as suggested above. They work pretty well if you live in a dry climate. If your area is humid, then I dunno. Plant more trees?
  4. You can get a portable AC that has a removable tray that collects the water. When it senses that the tray is full, a sensor turns it off. You just have to empty it periodically; how often depends on the humidity level in your home.
