Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

do portable air conditioners have to be connected to windows?

I'm thinking about getting a portable air conditioner because my landlord won't let me put a window unit in the new windows. I see they have air hoses with "window attachment kits" or whatever. Do you have to screw these on or take the screen off to put these on? I can't do anything to alter the windows....

4. u hav to do some minor adjustment if u cant do them better go for air coolers
5. Make a complaint to the landlord about the a/c not working properly. Have them fix it, Your paying to rent a house that should be properly ventilated
