Looking to buy a portable air con conditioning uni, question about how to vent it, ventilate through the wall?
Id like to buy an air con uni, for my flat thats unbearably hot, probably just something from argos like this; http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/catalogId/1500001801/partNumber/4250124.htm#tabrev but ive read that they require venting, or something through the wall. How do i do this? how does it work? can it not just be on the window seal? Thanks

- Most Air conditioners can be mounted in the window. Just do a google search for air conditioners and you will find tons of info on window mounted A/C's
- Yes, it has to be vented to the outside. Normally thru the window. You have to empty the pan when it fills with condensate water. Window units are available that fit entirely in the window and have no pan to empty. It also frees up floor space.
- We currently have 2 units very similar to what you are looking to purchase. It was actually quite simple to vent them using your window and yes, you can use the seal of your window. The venting hose comes with the unit and most times you will also have a window kit in the box. Our windows never fit with the standard kit in the box, so we made our own. All we did was measure the window nearest to where we wanted the unit, then we cut a piece of wood to fit in the window, and cut out the hole for the vent hose to fit in. I will tell you that we had widow units before, and the portable ones are the best!
