Air conditioning question?
We just got a new air conditioning its a portable one. The problem is that each time we turn it on its fine the first 10 mins. After than The hole house turns off the power goes off. We need to change the fuses so every thing can work again. Is there something i can do to fix this? I live in a apartment. Here is the info of the air conditioning it helps) http://www.ffemax.com/acp102ps.html?productid=acp102ps&channelid=BIZRA

- It's a power problem your apartment is not wired for an AC unit it requires atleast 20 amps at start up need alternative power sorce or upgrade existing power sorce.
- well obviously, it's drawing too many amps and flipping the breaker. is it a widow unit? well, turn off some other appliances hooked up on that circuit, or move the unit to a different outlet/window and try it there. the old wiring/breakers just cant handle the amp draw of the ac. maybe you could return it for a smaller one? GL with it!
- It should shut off the just the breaker to the unit if something is wrong with that one item I would think. It kinda sounds like your main breaker is weak. The whole place shouldn't shut down. Do you know anybody else in the apartments where you could try the thing, since it only takes 10 min. to fault? I think that might tell you if that breaker is bad. If he trips at the neighbors, it is shorting out to ground when it warms up. I have seen compressors do that. But the best test is to try it someplace else to determine if it is the breaker or the unit. It might be a bad a/c. Good Luck.
