Portable Air Condition, cooler pointing up or down?

I have a portable air condition, i have it sitting on a table, I have it on 'swing" (the vents), BUT what would cool my room better, pointing the fan up towards the ceiling, the middle, or down, which would cool it best ?

1. Not scientifically backed or anything, but I think since hot air rises, you should point the vents up. If you point them down you will cool air that is already cooler.
