Electronic Portable Air Conditioner

Question re portable refrigerated (not evaporative) air conditioning?

I live in Melbourne. I have a portable evaporative refrigerated air conditioning, but that does not work well. I am thinking of buying a portable refrigerated air conditioning. Can anyone tell me whether the portable refrigerated air conditioning works especially on those extremely hot days? I only intend to put it in a bedroom. Personal experience please - thank you.

1. the evap just blows wet air around so on dry hot days its choice nice and cool, on humid days it just adds to the wet thick heat. you can get some cheap split system reverse cycle(heat/cool) a/c`s now its just the install that hurts but if you got mates in the trade it makes it easier.not really portable but. go the refrig way its more comfortable and economical if you get the reverse cycle(being a melboferal,4 seasons in 1 day), it pays it way in the end. evap sucks
