HVAC question...whats estimated cost of new air conditioning coil installed on a carrier A/C home unit? I have a Carrier A/C Unit that is about 5 years old and the coil (evaporator) is leaking (it's been checked by a contractor). It needs a new one so I am wondering if any HVAC pro out there can give me a ballpark figure of what it might cost. Thanks!
My son is a mail carrier and it is so hot now....he really needs some type of small air conditioning unit he? can plug into a cigarette lighter. He doesn't have a lot of room in the truck so it would have to be very small...Any suggestions.

vehicle/ carrier air conditioner for pets?? Hi there, I'm wondering if there are any types of pet carriers or other portable unit (crate, pen, etc) that have either attached air-conditioning, or if something can be attached. This would not be for constant use. My enclosed-bed pick-up truck is not air-conditioned (maybe a unit can be installed in the back canopy??). For the rare time that I might need to take a pet for an unexpected trip to a vet, I worry when it gets warm, and am looking for a solution that would not entail my having to sell my vehicle, or installing an a/c system "after-market" which I have discovered will cost me thousands (and presumable only installs the a/c to the front cab). I was hoping that there may be something that is available to animal care professionals or rescue associations that I might look into, or if any car-savvy person can think of some alternatives. Thanks, Linda I have sent an enquiry to "petcool.com" and await a reply from them. Their units are intended for dog houses. I also bought a unit last year from kooleraire.com but it doesn't generate any cool air to speak of.
Can I paint a central air conditioning outdoor compressor unit? It's a Carrier central AC unit and the compressor in the backyard looks like hell. The paint is peeling off in huge chunks and there's lot of rust. It looks pretty awful. I'm wondering if I can make it look newer with a fresh coat of paint? If I were to do that, what kind of paint would I use? Something that can withstand high temperatures? And how to apply? Spray? Is this a DIY job?
What is the best Central Air conditioning to purchase? I have a Carrier for a 1100 sf Condo that I bought 2 years ago. The AA unit have more than 5 years. Last summer a maintenance guy told me I should replace the condenser next summer (by now) or buy a new unit with more capacity. Which one do you think is better, Trane or Carrier? What models do you recomend based on cooling power, energy savings, durability and service, balanced with a reasonable price?
FMCSA air conditioning question? Is there ANY Federal regulation that states if a commercial motor vehical came with air conditioning, the Employer or Motor Carrier has to keep it on the truck in working condition? And, can you tell me where to find this information, or what the Reg.# or article is?
Home Air conditioning system rip off? I paid for a 14 Seer heat pump/condenser (outside unit) and a 13 Seer variable speed air handler to replace my old 10 Seer units. I am using the same number of KW hrs/day, and I found out the outside unit is only rated at 13 Seer. Carrier says the combination of these two units is equal to a 15 Seer system. Can 2+2=5 in AC?THe contractor also disconnected my hot water recovery system , said it wouldn't work with the new PR410 refrigerant. Carrier just refer me back to the installer if I press for more info.
some one saw, in new products on tv, an air conditioned pet carrier, do you know about this? does anyone know more about this than just a yup? where would one be found?

packaged air conditioning? Does anyone know about what a packaged air conditioner costs and how they are installed? Carrier is one manufacturer of these. This would be for about an 800 sq foot house. Looking for options other than central air or a window unit.
Who makes the best air conditioning units? York Day & Night Payne Carrier Trane Rheem?

Carrier Heat and Air help!? I am a new home owner with little knowledge about the heat and air system. The air conditioning unit outside comes on whenever the heat kicks on. Is this normal??? I was told that the air conditioning unit outside runs backwards in 'heat' mode and becomes the heat pump. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for the help. Thanks! I live in Indianapolis, IN where it is currently 29 degrees. How can the unit be pulling heat out of the air? It runs simultaneously with the furnace.
Is it too late for my evaporator coil in my central air conditioning unit? I get no suction after cleaning...? I have a Carrier Central Air System, product #FA4ANF036000AFAA. I am not sure how old it is, it was here when I moved in over 5 years ago. It has been freezing up, so I cleaned the evaporator coil on the inside, it was pretty dirty. That didn't work, so I called a repairman. He said I was low on freon (of course) and added about 6 pounds, but still it was freezing up. He checked for leaks, could not find any. He then cleaned id with the foaming cleaner, lots of crud came out. Still, it was freezing up and not getting the proper air flow.He told me " there was not much I could do" and that I needed a new coil, which would be about $300 for the part and about $700-$800 for labor and new freon. So after he left, I cleaned it some more, this time I ran the hose inside my house and really got in there. Made a huge mess..but got a little more grime out. Still, it was freezing, and not getting enough air flow. The blower fan works fine, but there seems to be no air flowing through the evaporator coil. There is almost no air flowing out of the vents in the house. When I remove the panel on the air handler, there is alot of suction, and the airflow out of the vents is normal again, since the blower fan is sucking in the air from where I opened the unit up, not through the coils..When I put the panel back on, air flow drops again to nearly nothing.. Should the air be flowing right through the evap. coil without much resistance?I have nothing to compare it to, so I really don't know what a properly functioning coil "feels" like..Should light from a flashlight shine through the coils? Is there any definitive way to determine if the coil is beyond cleaning? I just don't want to buy a whole new one if there is some way I can "clear it out" more. Could the cleaning just jammed the crud up in there, clogging it like that? Some more details.. Yes there is a new filter. that's the first thing I checked :) Also, I don't have a basement(Florida) and the air intake is right on the wall under the closet where the air handler is, nothing is blocking it. I pretty much know what the problem is: air is not going through the evap. coils, seems they are clogged. My main question, I guess, is does air usually pass through the coils easily(on a brand new unit)? Because air is not going through mine. I just want to know if that is normal or not, how "breathable" that coil SHOULD be...like I said, I really have nothing to compare it to. Even more details...I think I found the culprit! Upon closer examination of the fins on the bottom side of the coil, the fins were mostly bent to the side, at an angle. That would explain the lack of suction. Even though they looked somewhat clean and straight, they were almost all slanted, like vertical blinds in the closed position. I tried to bend them back, one by one, and about 4 hours later they were more opened up. Although some were damaged in the process, I believe it helped. I cleaned then with cleaner and a hose one more time, and I am getting a little bit more suction, although there is still a little icing up:( I guess my only hope is a new coil..Great, more money down the drain..Looks like about $1000 for the coil and labor, not including the leaky ducts in the attic that I have been putting off fixing---yay
BEST AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS? I'm replacing two air conditioning units in my home. It's a split system with gas. Does anyone have a preference between Carrier and Trane?
air conditioning pt. 2? christians, did you know that air conditioning was the invention of dr. willis carrier? the descendant of a witch ? how is it that you denounce satan and all his works, but the invention of a pagan is ok? you got it jack!
Air Conditioning - what's going on? Just had a Bryant A/C unit installed last July (after 2 months without it of wrestling with the home warranty company). All was finally replaced and worked well. The outside unit/compressor was replaced (Bryant) as was the inside blower (Carrier) in the basement connected to the air handler. Air handler is probably about 20 years old, we know nothing about it (brand wise, anything but it works well). Well, I'm in SC so we started running the air 2 months ago. This afternoon, it kept coming on (very loud unit) and off inside, but the compressor outside kept running. It would be on a minute then off 5-10 seconds, then back on. The compressor was running, but nothing was coming out of the vent. So I finally gave up and just shut the A/C off and put the fan on "ON" instead of "AUTO", so the air is just circulating through the handler. Hasn't shut off in 5 hours, but every time I try to turn the A/C on it comes and goes but keeps running outside. The air coming out inside is cold when everything is working. So, what the heck? It obviously can't be the handler as it has been running fine for the last 5 hours as long as the air conditioning isn't on. I even tried heat and it doesn't do this. Any ideas? Dreading calling the home warranty "we'll stick a screw in it" people...
What brand do you think for a window type 2HP air condition? Which of the following do you think is good brand for a 2HP air condition 1. Samsung 2. Panasonic 3. LG 4. Carrier With the power efficiency and less noise.
Is 245 psig too low for a Discharge/Head pressure on an R-410A air conditioner? In my small rowhouse I just got a newly installed 2 ton, 16 SEER split Carrier central air conditioning system that uses R-410A. I am worried the techs who installed it were incompetent and did not charge it correctly. It has TVX valves so you need to use subcooling to measure the charge. They recorded the Discharge/Head pressure as 245 on my installation receipt, which on a P/T chart equals 83 degrees. The small, copper liquid line (measured near the compressor valve) doesn't seem to heat up much (doesn't feel warm at all to the touch). When I measure it with a thermometer I get temps a few degrees above ambient. Does it sound like I'm low on refrigerant? Is a 245 psig pressure just flat out too low for any system?...it seems it would be impossible to get 10 degrees of subcooling at that pressure since it is equal to 83 degrees... to get the 10 degrees of subcooling your liquid line would have to be like 73, which would be colder than ambient (that line is supposed to warm/hot right?). The system actually cools ok with a healthy temperature split approaching 20 degrees. My concern is the system is not working as efficiently as it could and/or is being subject to excessive wear and tear due to a low charge.
What is reasonable to expect of air conditioning? We just had a Carrier 2.5 ton unit installed in our 1600 sq. foot home. Each room has a single vent. Today was one of the first days we ran it. Temp outside was 98. It's been on all day (15 hours now) with the thermostat set to 72 degrees. However the temp has not gone below 79 according to the thermostat. An hour ago I pushed it way down to 65 degrees, but still it's only down to 77 (temp outside is 84). It's not seeming much like $5k was very well spent. I have only had AC in apartments about half the size of my house and could get it downright cold if I wanted. What is reasonable to expect of air conditioning in a house? It certainly seems like it should be colder than this!!!
Any one bought a AMANA central air conditioning until? Any trouble with this product 2 1/3 ton 13 or 14 seer? Bought a consumer report but no recommendation nor no useful info for me to make a smart decision. I am going blind in making this "expensive" decision. Any could help me? What is my best solution if I need to add air conditioning to a home that has only a fan forced heat furnace? I am looking to purchase an older home (built in the 40's) that currently has only fan forced furnace heat. I would like to add air conditioning. Do I buy an add on outside pad mounted unit and have it installed? Or do I replace the furnace with a new heat / cooling combo unit? I am not sure of the homes dimensions, but it is a single story 2 bedroom home. I am looking on websites such as (Carrier) and also for units on ebay, but I don't really know what i am doing. I was told by one heating and cooling company owner that I am looking at about $2500 to $3000 just to add air. Does this sound legit? He also mentioned an additional 250 to run electric. Help.....
How long should i switch on my air purifier? My room is 3.5m by 5m and roughly 2.5m in height. My air purifier is roughly the height size of a standard hotel toilet bowl. How long should i switch it on for sleep each night? I sleep in an air-conditioned room where the air-conditioner is turned on at 9pm and i wake up at 6am. My air purifier is one that comes with an ionizer function. I am asking as my air purifier is as noisy as an aircraft carrier and i am hoping to swtich it off after the least time possible for it to carry out its function. Thanks! Hi, the brand is AMCOR. I have taken apart the machine and cleaned everything possible. There is one general filter that I have replaced with a new general filter. The next layer is the “forever” filter that need not be cleaned. Running the machine with everything taken apart, I have found out the sound is caused by the running of the motor. The model is outdated so it is not listed on AMCOR’s site. I have attached a picture too, http://www.flickr.com/photos/24243779@N00/213520842/
What might cause a 5 year old Carrier heat pump to buzz after being in Air Condition mode? I have a 5 year old Carrier Weather Maker (Puron) heat pump. It has worked find in both heat and air mode, but last summer it began buzzing. We had a tech out who charged us a good amount of money to switch thermostats. The buzzing stopped until this spring when we turn the AC on. Now it buzzes again. The buzzing is from the outside unit. The intensity varies sometimes so loud it keeps us awake. I can flip the outside switch off, buzz continues. I can only stop it by turning of the main breaker. It only continues after the breaker is back on, and AC runs. Switching AC to heat do not seem to work.
Troubleshooting on an RV air conditioner "carrier", not working.? Any help with would be greatly appreciated. I have a 5th wheel / RV that is about 2 years old and after setting it up and leaving it plugged in with the AC set at around 80 deg. it is not working correctly. We live about 2 hours away so checking it daily or weekly is not possible. The air condition will work at times and the service guy had us unplug it and disconnect the battery for 10 min. after reconnecting in the reverse order it worked for a while (2 days). But now no longer works, it won't turn on. It seems like an electrical problem. When it turns on it works great, but it is one with a remote control and no wired in wall panel. I know the explination is not great and I have done the basics (fuse, breaker on pole and in camper, batteries for the remote). Thank you ahead of time. And I know call a maintance man, but it will cost 1/2 the price of a new unit just to get him out here. Thanks for the advice I will check. We stayed in it for about a week after we set it up. I don't know if we have had a change in the electrical flow since then though
Good price for a used air conditioner? We have a window unit at work. It is a Carrier. It is in good condition. It is a year old. The building I wiork in is redoing the air condition and we no longer need the unit. It originally cost the company $650 a year ago. I want to purchase it from teh company but do not have $650. It has depreciated in value over the year I am sure. What is a fair price to pay for a 1year old air conditioner as stated above?
Air conditioning problem? Had notice the "green" wire was disconnected from "G" on the control board at the furnace. I reconnected that and thought my problem with my A/C not cooling might have been solved -- went outside and found the outside fan unit was not running. I pushed the fan blades in a clockwise direction with a stick and the fan started running -- went inside and it seemed like everything might be okay. Went back outside 10 minutes or so later and the fan had stopped running again. I should note that the outside air temperature is pretty cool this evening and we don't need a/c tonight -- I was just trying to work though the problem. I know there are some relays etc. that might need to be checked outside -- just looking for some direction on where to start. This is a carrier unit and the inside furnace is model# 58EFB075 - I also have a larger (twin) unit for my downstairs that is model# 58EFB125. Where should I start outside? Could the "green" wire disconnect have caused a problem with the outside unit? Thanks, Tim timdaus@mac.com timdaus2001@yahoo.com or here... If it is the start capacitor (or the run capacitor) at the outside unit, how would I troubleshoot that? I'm trying very hard to avoid having to call out an a/c guy as we have just adopted a baby and finances are pretty tight -- and it seems like it truly does "Pour" when it "rains".... thanks, tim
Air conditioning system : why the equalizing line is icing? Its a Carrier water cooled condenser type, chilled water acu system for a Dehumidifier system. Used at the urea fertilizer bulk store. System not running.Suspected TRV defective. Ordered to change new filter drier (block filter) and change new TRV (TRAE30HW90 6A ), purge the affected area. charged in gas-R22 and run system. Continue to charge in gas to LP 60 psi and HP 225 psi, load was 38.5 amps. Require 41 amps @ LP 70 psi, HP 250 psi approx. nominal ratio. At 38.5 Amps the equalizing line started to frost (icing). This shows that there is liquid flow to the return line. At this point the amps drop to 34 amps and LP 38 psi in a period of 20 min.The other system combined to the same chiller is running good with HP 240 psi, LP 68 psi @ 41 amps. I also tried charging up more gas but the gas did not want to go in. Continued to run system as it is and there was no change. Whats the remedy to this condition? Tks, Allan

air conditioning trouble.? i have a carrier 25tonner split system A/C, when i turn it on and the compressor is energized, it's contactor would make a sound, like that of a hammer, and the spark inside the contactor is visible, and after a while, the CB would trip. i already check the control pad anfound no problem, i already checked the compressor, and everything is just normal, i already cleaned up the arcing residue in the contactor but still the same problem would happen.. what should i do? i am an aircon technician with a lot of experience, but i cant seem to troubleshoot this one, can someone please help me? thank you.
What is the average cost to have a completely new all electric HVAC unit installed? Heat pump and Furnace.? My home heating and cooling system is nearing the end of it's usefulness. I currently have a 1984 model Carrier all electric Heating and Air Conditioning unit (heat pump and furnace) that needs to be replaced soon....maybe real soon! I would like to hear from some of you who have had to replace their entire system. What should I expect to pay for a new unit including the cost for installation. I know I can get contractors to come by and give me free estimates but I'd like to get some idea of the total cost before I call them. Thanks I currently have a 2.5 ton unit and will replace it with a similar system. I may go to a 3 ton unit.
Why is Dead Air such a serious crime in the Radio and TV broadcasting industry? On Wikipedia's article on Dead Air, I discovered that there is a condition called "Dead Air", which means that a broadcasting station's carrier frequency is being transmitted, but there is a lack of modulation (sound and/or video data). I was wondering why it is such a crime, and what damage does it do?
What is a 50YX-030-301 Carrier unit? Air Conditioning Unit
its 646 words. i need to shorten it to 500 words. how do i do that? i cut it down from 2000+ words so i cant f? figure out how to make it any shorter!!! It’s a fact that life without air conditioner would be extremely different from what it is now. Air conditioning has improved our economy, society, and culture, and has changed the way Americans live, walk, and play. Despite the many positive outcomes, Americans have definitely become to reliant on it. Willis Havilland Carrier created air conditioning in 1902 while working at a printing house. The irregularities in the humidity and temperature made the inks misalign. Carrier’s invention lowered the humidity and also held it at a constant level. Air conditioning lowered the humidity of air by “balancing the temperature of the coils, through which cold air passed, with the rate of flow to reach the desired dew-point level”(Willis Carrier, par.4). 20th century social scientists theorized that “hot weather slowed civilization down, made people lazy, and created generations of slow-witted people, justifying slavery and imperialism” (Robbins, Susanna, pg. 2). When first invented, air conditioning was only used in factories for industrial uses and did nothing to improve the comfort of the poor factory workers. As time went on, advertisement began focusing on middle class citizens and rather than being considered an industrial product, it became a social status shaper. At the time, elite, upper class Americans shunned air conditioning and claimed that they were above admitting any discomfort. That perspective of air conditioning is now gone, and over 75% of American homes have air conditioning. Social rituals to deal with summer weather such as sitting with family on porches, and summer vacations became less common. This impact is negative because families began spending less time with each other. Before air conditioning was used for comfort purposes, it was used mainly in America’s industry. Air conditioning wasn’t limited to only printing plants. Tobacco factories and textile mills also used it to improve their products. It also increased productivity in factories and other work places. Studies showed that a cooler temperature and lower humidity lead to an increase in productivity. In fact, “one 1938 study found a 51% increase in productivity during the summer months”. (The coolest America of the century, pg. 2). Not only did factories gain productivity, but places like movie theaters, restaurants, and stores gained a lot more business because customers came in to escape the heat. This impact on America’s economy is definitely positive. Without all the productivity and business gains, our economy wouldn’t have become as strong as it is now. One of the most noticeable impacts air conditioning has had on America is its culture, or more specifically, its architecture. Older homes had porches and verandas. This was where families gathered on hot evenings to escape the heat. These homes use to have thick walls, eaves, attics, breezeways, and cross ventilation; all different methods used to keep houses cool. Once air conditioning became common in houses, those methods were replaced with centrally cooled suburban houses. This impact is negative because the south lost a lot of its unique architecture. Finally, air conditioning definitely has changed the way Americans live, work, and play. Now enclosed spaces are comfortable enough to work in, maximizing productivity and space. AC is also now used for preservation. It was used while preserving the Sistine Chapel in Rome and to preserve a 500-year-old frozen Incan mummy. Air conditioning also led to the invention of the centrifugal chiller. This invention was used to cool large public areas, and used refrigerant fluid instead of ammonia. Out of all other American innovations, air conditioning might have had the greatest impact, changing American society, culture, as well as its economy. Americans have obviously become too dependent on, as they miss it when its not there. Americans now have become accustomed to being comfortable, so now, instead of going outside to enjoy the outside where they would miss the cool AC air, they would rather stay in the comfort of their air conditioned home.
Our A/C broke! What kind of air condition unit do we need for our house? Hi. Who knows what kind of air conditioning should I install in my house? I bought a new house 4 years ago and the constructor installed a very small A/C Carrier unit. It was always running without turning off. My house size is 2700 sq.ft. with 9 feet ceilings, 7 people live in the house. We have 9 big windows on the west side of the house. A/C company who installed this unit only gave 1yr warrant on this unit. It's 105*F in California now and our A/C broke!!! Does anybody know what type I should install? Our unit is located outside and it's a central split A/C. Where can I get it for a resonable price, with the fan and the compressor? Does anybody know if the construction company can put in the right unit size, regardless of the warranty. Thanks!!!
Transport Law: Public Carriers by Air v. Carriers' Terms and Conditions..? Here's an easy question that I cannot pose simply Most Airlines who provide a scheduled flight service are deemed in UK law to be Public Carriers. Now I studied Transport Law many moons ago as part of my degree, and have a vague recollection that a Public Carrier may not refuse carriage and that this refers to the carriage of goods or passengers. If this is the case, how does this tie in with their terms & conditions allowing them to refuse carriage to passengers? An Example: Client A has a fully paid ticket to fly. He checks in successfully & waits to board. But a computer glitch means the screens don't show that the flight is boarding & he starts to get nervous because his flight has not yet been shown. Knowing the flight is due to depart soon, he goes the gate to be met by irate airline staff refusing him access citing clause blah of the Ts&Cs. They remove his bags and he gets no compensation. Can someone clarify the law of Public Carriage and Carriers Ts & Cs... please Thank you eriverpipe for your opinion. However, you have failed totally to provide an answer to the actual question... yet they call you a top contributor...
how to read an electical appliance schematic? mostly interested in air conditioning systems ( carrier ) ok, I,m taking a class on hvac, the teacher has given us a schematic, no model number, said it was a common example. We will be tested on voltage drops , switch on or off ? component working or not ? So my question is , what is the best way to break down the schematic , follow each line and convert to a ladder type drawing ? Some of the circuits seem to have mutiple paths depending on whether a certain switch is on or off. Thanks
air conditioner for pets?? new central air and heating unit shutters and clunks when stopping? This condition has been noted by installer and the selinoid (keeps refridgerant from back flowing into unit) above the outside unit has been changed. It did not help. The inside unit is in the attic near bedrooms.....the noise, when stopping, is very loud and annoying. Any thoughts? Carrier units installed last summer.
Do you know any Emergency Care Tips For Your Pet? # Emergency Care Tips For Your Pet This is not intended as a substitute for expert veterinary care. Ask your own veterinarian clinic if they hold pet first-aid classes for owners. Many are now doing this, sometimes in partnership with other clinics in their area. Heat Stroke, Hyperthermia Pets cannot tolerate high temperatures as well as people can and they rely on rapid breathing to exchange hot air for cool air. Pets' temperatures are higher than ours -- a dog and cat have an average temperature of 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Common situations and features that can predispose a pet to overheating: 1. Being left in a car in warm weather, even if the windows are left slightly open. 2. Having a muzzle on while a pet is being groomed, and/or leaving the muzzle on while a pet is put in a drying cage. 3. Short-nosed breeds such as pugs, bulldogs, boxers and Persian cats. 4. Any pet with an airway disease. 5. Being confined outside without shade or an adequate supply of fresh water. Suggested treatment when this condition occurs: 1. Mild Hyperthermia can sometimes be treated by simply removing a pet from the situation and/or environment where overheating has occurred, and placing it in a cool place in the shade or in an air-conditioned room. 2. If a pet is unsteady on its feet and you have moved it to a cooler location, you can start cooling it by placing cool water on the feet. Rubbing alcohol on the skin of your pet's stomach (with a fan blowing on the pet) can also aid in cooling. 3. While these steps are in progress, have someone call your veterinarian so that they can determine if you should bring your pet in for treatment. Note: it is very dangerous to cool an overheated pet too quickly. Never put a pet in an ice bath, or use ice cold water, unless under the direct supervision of your veterinarian. Cool water is best. The most common sign of hyperthermia is restlessness and agitation, with vigorous panting. A pet's saliva may be thick, and the gums and tongue may be bright red. Depending on the severity of the hyperthermia, the gums can also be very pale and a pet may be lying down with its head, neck, and limbs extended and thick saliva coming from the mouth and nose. Always call your veterinarian, even if the pet appears to have recovered from hyperthermia, after you have administered any of the treatments above. Your veterinarian may not want to see your pet if it has recovered, but it is always best for them to determine whether or not your pet needs to be examined. Choking Choking is caused by a foreign object being lodged in the pet's airway and adding pressure to the trachea or windpipe. To avoid a choking incident, always provide your pet with toys that are the appropriate size. Toys that are too small (relative to your pet's size) can be easily swallowed and become wedged in your pet's airway. It's important to provide supervision when an edible treat is being chewed. Some treats that dogs enjoy, such as rawhide, cow hooves, and pig ears, can break off in pieces and may not be small enough for your pet to swallow completely. Always remove strings, foil, and feathers from cat toys -- these items can be enjoyable to your cat but may potentially become caught in its throat or intestinal tract. Indications of choking: 1. Noisy and labored breathing sounds – your pet will have difficulty inhaling 2. Pawing at the nose and mouth 3. Gums may be white or blue 4. Excessive drooling 5. Unconsciousness Determine if your pet's airway is able to be cleared by performing a finger swipe of the mouth -- this is accomplished by placing your finger on the side of the pet's mouth and sliding it down and toward the center of the throat. If no foreign object or substance is removed and your pet is still having breathing difficulties, contact your veterinarian for immediate instructions and care. Do not try and perform CPR or the Heimlich method unless instructed by your veterinarian. Bleeding A physical trauma can cause pets to suffer blood loss. Regardless of what caused the trauma to your pet, immediate attention to blood loss is required. Pressure: Apply gentle pressure to the bleeding; do not remove a cloth or bandage even if it becomes saturated, simply apply additional layers. The bandage can be held in place by bandage material if you need to free your hands. Elevation can be used to aid in stopping the bleeding, but try to continue applying direct pressure to the wound. Try to keep your pet calm, and contact your veterinarian immediately, or if the situation warrants it, begin transporting your pet to the veterinarian while controlling the bleeding. Tourniquet: The use of tourniquets can be dangerous and cause damage to the limb if applied incorrectly. A tourniquet should only be used if the pet is experiencing a life threatening situation, due to the amount of blood loss that is occurring from a limb or tail. How to Move and Transport an Injured Pet An injured pet is unpredictable, regardless of its personality. When pets are in pain, they react instinctively and unpredictably and cannot be held responsible for their actions. Always take precautions to protect yourself, and your pet, from further injury when transporting to the veterinarian. An emergency muzzle' can be made from a neck tie, silk stocking, a section of linen fabric, or other strong material. Using the middle of the material, make a loop and place it around your pet's muzzle. Bring the ends under the chin and tie snuggly around the back of the head under the ears. If your pet is unable to walk, or you have determined that walking may cause further injury or damage, a blanket can be used as a transport device. Gently lift the pet onto the blanket, and grip the edges of the blanket to lift and place the pet in the vehicle. Covering your pet is important to prevent heat loss and can create a calming effect. Smaller pets can be transported in a carrier or a box (with holes large enough for air to allow for adequate breathing) with a lid. Try to minimize the amount of movement, and make your pet as comfortable as possible. Always try to contact your veterinarian, in advance, to share as many details as possible, and the estimated time that you will arrive at the clinic. Snake Bites The first thing you must do if you think your pet has been bitten by a snake is to stay calm. Do not add any additional excitement to the situation. Your pet will need to be examined to determine if and where the snake bite occurred, and there may be more than one location, so examine carefully. A constrictive bandage can be placed on the limb involved, above the bite. A bandage will need to fit firmly on the leg, but not too tightly. If possible, try to identify the snake – you should attempt to determine the size, color, the shape of the head, and if there was a rattle at the end of the snake's tail. Do not risk injury to yourself in attempting to get this information. Carry the pet to the vehicle or, if too large to carry, walk it slowly to your vehicle and go to the nearest veterinary hospital. (This may not be the hospital that you regularly use, but immediate care is required for a snake bite.) In the meantime, keep your pet as calm as possible. Contact your veterinarian if you think a snake bite may have occurred, but you are unable to find the fang marks. Your veterinarian may want to examine your pet to insure a bite mark was not accidentally overlooked. Spider Bites Veterinary treatment is required for any spider bite. Unfortunately, you will probably not know when your pet has received a spider bite. Spider bites can be painless when they occur. What you may see is a patch of skin where the hair has thinned; there may be a single hole visible, with skin discoloration around the hole. The skin may be a dark purple or black in color. There might be lameness in the limb other than where the bite occurred, as well as fever and chills. Spider bites can be life threatening to you and your pets. Research the area you live to determine which poisonous spiders are prevalent, and always examine the areas where spiders like to build nests. Contact an exterminator to remove spiders from your home. Ducted AC air condition not cooling? Hi People, I have been struggling ith the A/C the last few weeks. We have an old carrier Heat pump Serial number 80029 Model number 38RQ033900. I measured the temperature at the inlet filter which read 30.9 C and measured the temp at the closest outlet at the ceiling and it measured 30.4. The out side temperature is 42, should i expect the outlet temperature to be at least 8 degrees cooler than the inlet temp. Thanks Thanks for your advise. Today I went into the roof to take a look at the evapourator and I saw that some of the insulation has fallen from the ducting away exposing the thin pipe. I did a temperature check again at night and I did record a 3 degree temperature change from the inlet to the out let so that tells me the evaparator is working to some degree. I might do a temperature test in the roof right near where the blower is. I think if I focus on at least better insulated ducting and check for any leakages I might be on a winner.
what isalternative to the 'ship breaking' of huge ships (eg aircraft carrier)that has become environment issue Around the world, old naval aircraft carriers are scrapped because they have exhausted their ‘military’ life in terms of metal shield, armament and the communication capabilities. The ship so decommissioned by the military can be bought below its scrap value as environment concerns put a restriction to its disposal process. A French ship recently sent to India as scrap had to go through government and legal hurdles before it was allowed in Indian Territory. So its further use as an operating ship would always be worthwhile as the scrap value is retained. PRODUCT & SERVICE Such redundant ships are still seaworthy and can be positioned at high seas on rescue missions. After removal of heavy artillery, extra fuel tanks and other allied military equipment, it can be suitably modified to create space and area that can be used for 1.Producing & Storing potable water, food & medicine, rescue equipment and fuel to support the rescue & relief operations. 2.Constructing operation theatres, ICU and sick quarters on board. 3.Quarters for the medical and rescue staff. 4.Short term refuge for victims. 5.desalination plant 6.Communication and watch station. Cyclones are detected and tracked by satellite as they gather strength. Experts also predict within reasonable time the area where the landfall would occur. Local doctors, fire-fighters and other rescue teams are themselves subject to disaster. But still they are the best persons as they know the local language and the local terrain. If these persons are removed from the scene in advance and placed on this aircraft carrier then after the disaster they can be flown in straight from this carrier and efficiently utilised as the rescuers in the area. The sick and infirm can be brought on this ship before or after the disaster. This need not be limited to cyclonic disaster but also others like earth quake and fires in SE Asia where there are island nations. Why a ship for such rescue? Cyclone Path is tracked by a weather centre for at least 3 to 5 days, before it hits the land. The location can be predicted within several kilometres. As such if a relief ship follows the cyclone path it remains in a safe zone behind the storm, but at the same time, is immediately available at the location close to the disaster area. A cyclone after making the land fall, due to the residual storm effect keeps the area for many crucial hours out of bounds for approach and rescue from the land side. Even helicopters cannot fly in. Further delay takes place after that because the relief convoys can start only after assessing the roads and runways conditions. In many countries like in Africa rescue convoys can be subjected to loot on the way. This journey then takes place on the damaged roads in adverse weather conditions. The air journey after such confirmation may take further many hours to reach the nearest airport which it self may be far. Most of the time with the radio communications destroyed the actual requirement cannot be assessed. In such cases it normally happens that required items are missing and other items clutter the available storage area. A fleet of such ships can be acquired by United Nations and can be positioned at frequently affected locations around the world. COST OFFSET Up till now the relief measures start taking shape after the disaster is struck and governments react. The cost of making hundreds of flying sorties of supplies from say Europe to SE Asia can be achieved by sending the closest ship to the area and then transporting required items to shore in hovercraft or barges. Being lighter than the normal military equipped ship it can navigate closer to the land. A team of medical staff could be earmarked for particular duty periods and familiarisation trips could be made during normal times to achieve better efficiency. The cost of manning and operation of such fleet could be very low as it does not require the military alertness and defensive maintenance. The economy and saving as compared to land and air transport over next few missions would itself compensate for the costs. 4.Who is the end user of this Idea / Product / Technology? The end users are the individual Nations under the auspices of the United Nations.. 5. The unique feature of this Idea / Product / Technology and how is this different from those existing in the market? Have you done a Prior Art Search through website or other means to determine the uniqueness / novelty of your Idea / Product / Technology? I am not aware that such dedicated rescue ships are in use any where in the world. Whenever there is a disaster the UN or individual Nations come up with their own plans to provide rescue. They use their military ships which can offer limited space and cannot fulfil long term multiple missions. Chaos occurs at airports and seaports. There are duplications and at other time there are language problems, written and spoken. Main load on these flights is water bottles, tents and blanket. 6.The problems that the envisioned Idea / Product / Technology addresses None. 7.Is anyone else in the world doing similar work (that you are aware of) and is a similar technology already in use? Please See #5 8.Special laboratory & test facilities required for this Technology A ship-building Yard facility would be required for the conversion and modification. 9.Which tests have been carried out and what were the results? Which further tests remain to be carried out? None required 10.Other potential uses / applications of the Idea / Product / Technology During normal times it can be used as a •staging post •watch post for military, coast guard, customs •marine training school. •oil rig or sea accidents rescue and •oil spillage control.
Where is the filter in a Carrier Weathermaker 8000 VS? Our air conditioning has shut down. The fan will still come on, but no cool air will blow through the vents (vents are on floor). People have suggested cleaning the air filter, but when we open the unit there don't appear to be any air filters, and the owner's manual does not show where the filter is. We now can't get it to turn back on (after opening and looking for filter) and have nothing now. Is there a common location for the air filters in this system? The inflow area looks be covered with insulation. Is this the filter? If so, how do we remove it to clean it?
What is the value of WWII Hiroshima aftermath pictures? There is an A-bomb picture, 5 pix total, an old air craft carrier picture, how much would it be worth? They are not in too good condition, they have some tape on them, but they are pretty old. They were taken by a soldier, they were not out of a magazine or book or anything like that. there is more than one picture
Which is better...??? Okay, my husband and I are moving across the country. We are driving his truck and hauling our small car on a flatbed trailer. Well, we have a cat who is traveling with us. My question is which would be better, to put the cat in her carrier in the car, with reflective screens in all the windows and the windows cracked, or to keep her in the truck with us with no air conditioning and the windows rolled down (also in her carrier)?

Should a person with hep C be working as a kitchen hand? What precautions should she and other staff take? Can the disease be spread if blood residue is touch by an open wound- say cut finger if the residue has been exposed to air for an hours or so (for eg). What does the author mean? The article is at the website below http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/30/us/30album.html The article says: "the Carrier Corporation, an industrial air- conditioning manufacturer and the financial anchor of Warren County, had just announced it was shutting its profitable plant and shipping many of the 1,300 jobs to Mexico". MY QUESTION IS: What type of profits does the writer refer to? Who benefited from the plant closure?
Central AC not working (outside unit fan not blowing)? Our first day of 90+ temperatures yesterday and our Central Air Conditioning is not working. The condensing unit (outside part with all the fins) makes a "buzz" sound when I try to turn this on, but the fan blade does not spin (and all the "compressing noise" is not happening either). Some details: * Unit is a Carrier - less than 5 years old * Inside Fuse box was not tripped, I reset - same issue * Single fuse outside near compressor not tripped - reset same issue * The inside fan works, air blows through vents * Temp outside is about 92 degrees, temp inside was set to 72; now at 76 in the house * Not a frozen coil issue (1 day later, still not working) What is happening: When I set the thermostat to cool and 77 and up the outside stops buzzing. I turn it to 75 or lower and the outside unit stops buzzing again. Any help would be appreciated -- if I had to guess I would think the issue is with a part inside of the compressing unit (the part with all the fins that makes all the noise and has a fan on the top -- sorry, wish I knew the tech term for it). The units in the house (Thermostats and blower motors) seem to work fine. Thank you.

Is it correct that 5 acres at Peliyagoda will be used for waste disposal & a portion of the remaining for UDU? UDU is undisclosed usages - The population at Peliyagoda is protesting because they have multi-million rs. fish market slated for that area within hundreds of meters of the dump site. The people would rather make money selling fish in a cooperative atmosphere - where real earnings enter their pocketbooks than working at a dumpsite next to a sausage factory owned by a multi-national that takes all the earnings out of the country and is a civic non-performer. Considering Burns abominable management of the dump at Bloementhal as well as spotty performance in picking up and disposing of waste why would we want to continue a 1B US contract with them or give another venue to mismange, cause health hazards, and remove a billion dollars from Sri Lanka? In Sri Lanka we do not give billion dollar sausage factories to conglomerates that have overcharged and deprived our citizens of their fundamental rights to earn a living, turn their neighborhoods to slums and not protect their health and well being. Burns had an adequate opportunity to prove their capacities and failed dismally.Cancelling the contract for non-performance is a much better option than having it subcontracted back to the city. You effectively own all Burns assets due to non-performance and certainly do not need to enter into a sub-lease to utilize such for the collection, maintenance and disposal of refuse. A fish market at Peliyagoda that meets ISO22000 standards will not only support sales to consumer and commercial interests in Colombo but also, being near the rails support sales to other areas. You need to work with Champika on this matter. The peoples will be very dismayed to hear how these UNP ventures aim to keep local people destitute while earmarking billions for development of multi-national companies that do not perform, provide horrible working conditions and are able to funnel over a billion dollars out of the country based specifically on their non-performance. We do not care if Jaliya's friends in Congress are upset because I fully well know that whether this matter has to be exposed in Chennai, California or North Carolina that People who have kicked these same environmental offenders out of their areas will support the same actions in Sri Lanka. The area of Pamungada has also proven to be a haven for LTTE elements as well as lands that had been illegally encroached upon during previous UNP/PA administrations. There have been repeated discovery of arms and explosives at encroached lands. For matters of national security a complete village revitalization program has been slated for the area http://www.dailynews.lk/2007/04/17/news40.asp http://www.lankanewspapers.com/news/2006/6/7365.html http://www.sundaytimes.lk/060827/news/nwsp1.3.html This is why that a billion dollar project that allegedly provided 50 jobs and consists of large tracts of land where explosives and weapons caches can easily be hidden is not the direction that Sri Lanka needs at this or any juncture. http://www.island.lk/2009/04/05/news5.html When you consider who provides transparency in matters of land reclamation and who operates in subterfuge and recall that Ranil has not only allowed war-like equipment to be shipped to the LTTE though foreign sources but is also intimately involved in many of these multi-billion dollar multi-national operations that have gone belly up or proved to be major non-performers. Dulles has been trying to get Burns to clean up their act for months but having that come to fruition should not be based on a sub-contract deal between Burns and the City - when it can be easily based on the City pulling Burns contact and assets for non-performance and the City moving forward with a scope of work/change of venue that protects public interests in the outlying areas. What I know is that for every company that breaks the public trust there are another two or three that wish to perform within legal and ethical standards that respect our environmental concerns, truly want to be civic members of our soceity and are willing to support the Public Good and maintain the Public Trust. I am proud of the peoples of Gampaha area because they are not demanding things unreasonable but are defending the earmarked projects that extend their sustainability, provide opportunities for personal enrichment, develop commerce at a grassroots level and grow their communities with a sense of inclusiveness as well as protect opportunities for current and future prosperity. I have a question for the UNP - what is the name of "The National Air Carrier" of Sri Lanka?
what is barmuda triangle and where it is situated? is it mistry of this world http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl The Bermuda Triangle (also known as Devil's Triangle) is a nearly half-million square-mile (1.2 million km2) area of ocean roughly defined by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and the southernmost tip of Florida. The Bermuda Triangle has become popular through representation by the mass media, in which it is a paranormal site in which the known laws of physics are either violated, altered, or both. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl While there is a common belief that a number of ships and airplanes have disappeared under highly unusual circumstances in this region, the United States Coast Guard and others disagree with that assessment, citing statistics demonstrating that the number of incidents involving lost ships and aircraft is no larger than that of any other heavily traveled region of the world. Many of the alleged mysteries have proven not so mysterious or unusual upon close examination, with inaccuracies and misinformation about the cases often circulating and recirculating over the decades. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl The triangle is an arbitrary shape, crudely marking out a corridor of the Atlantic, stretching northward from the West Indies, along the North American seaboard, as far as the Carolinas. In the Age of Sail, ships returning to Europe from parts south would sail north to the Carolinas, then turn east for Europe, taking advantage of the prevailing wind direction across the North Atlantic. Even with the development of steam and internal-combustion engines, a great deal more shipping traffic was (and still is) found nearer the US coastline than towards the empty centre of the Atlantic. The Triangle also loosely conforms with the course of the Gulf Stream as it leaves the West Indies, and has always been an area of volatile weather. The combination of distinctly heavy maritime traffic and tempestuous weather meant that a certain, also distinctly large, number of vessels would flounder in storms. Given the historical limitations of communications technology, most of those ships that sank without survivors would disappear without a trace. The advent of wireless communications, radar, and satellite navigation meant that the unexplained disappearances largely ceased at some point in the 20th Century. The occasional vessel still sinks, but rarely without a trace. It should be noted that both the concept and the name of the Bermuda Triangle date only to the 1960s, and were the products of an American journalist. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Other areas often purported to possess unusual characteristics are the Devil's Sea, located near Japan, and the Marysburgh Vortex or the Great Lakes Triangle, located in eastern Lake Ontario. Map of the popularly-held dimensions of the Bermuda Triangle; recent claims by researchers alude to a more "trapezium" shape, extending back into the Gulf of Mexico and down into the Caribbean Sea.Contents History The cover of the 1977 Panther paperback edition of Berlitz's The Bermuda Triangle First citations The first mention of disappearances in the area was made in 1950 by E.V.W. Jones as a sidebar on the Associated Press wire service regarding recent ship losses. Jones' article notes the "mysterious disappearances" of ships, airplanes and small boats in the region, and ascribes it the name "The Devil's Triangle". It was next mentioned in 1952 in a Fate Magazine article by George X. Sand, who outlined several "strange marine disappearances". The term "Bermuda Triangle" was popularized by Vincent Gaddis in a 1964 Argosy feature. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Popularized by Berlitz The area achieved its current fame largely through the efforts of Charles Berlitz in his 1974 book The Bermuda Triangle (right) and its subsequent film adaptation. The book recounts a long series of mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft, in particular the December 1945 loss of five U.S. Navy Avenger torpedo bombers in the infamous Flight 19 incident. The book was a bestseller and included several theories about the cause of the disappearances, including accidents due to high traffic volumes; natural storms; "temporal holes"; the lost empire of Atlantis; transportation by extraterrestrial technology; and other natural or supernatural causes. Skeptical responses The marine insurer Lloyd's of London has determined the "triangle" to be no more dangerous than any other area of ocean, and does not charge unusual rates for passage through the region. Coast Guard records confirm their conclusion. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Skeptics comment that the disappearance of a train between two stops would be more convincing evidence of paranormal activity, and the fact that such things do not occur suggests that paranormal explanations are not needed for the disappearance of ships and airplanes in the far less predictable open ocean. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Kusche's research Intrigued by the number of students coming to him looking for information about the Bermuda Triangle, Lawrence Kusche, a reference librarian with Arizona State University at the time of the Flight 19 incident, began an exhaustive follow-up investigation of the original reports. His findings were eventually published in 1975 as The Bermuda Triangle Mystery: Solved. http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl Kusche's research revealed a number of inaccuracies and inconsistencies between Berlitz's accounts and statements from eyewitnesses, participants and others involved in the initial incidents. He noted cases where pertinent information went unreported, such as the disappearance of round-the-world yachtsman Donald Crowhurst which Berlitz had presented as a mystery, despite clear evidence that Crowhurst had fabricated the accounts of his voyage and had probably committed suicide. Another example was the ore-carrier Berlitz recounted as lost without trace three days out of an Atlantic port when it had been lost three days out of a port with the same name in the Pacific Ocean. Kusche also argued that a large percentage of the incidents attributed to the Bermuda Triangle's mysterious influence actually occurred well outside it. Kusche came to several conclusions: The number of ships and airplanes reported missing in the area was not significantly greater, proportionally speaking, than any other part of the ocean. In an area frequented by tropical storms, the number of disappearances that did occur was neither disproportionate, unlikely, nor mysterious. The numbers themselves had been exaggerated by sloppy research. A boat listed as missing would be reported, but not necessarily its eventual, if belated, return to port. The circumstances of confirmed disappearances were frequently misreported in Berlitz's accounts. The numbers of ships disappearing in supposedly calm weather, for instance, did not tally with weather reports published at the time. Methane hydrates Main article: Methane clathrate An explanation for some of the disappearances focuses on the presence of vast fields of methane hydrates on the continental shelves. A paper was published in 1981 by the United States Geological Survey about the appearance of hydrates in the Blake Ridge area, off the southeastern United States coast. Periodic methane eruptions may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning. Laboratory experiments have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water. Hypothetically, methane gas might also be involved in airplane crashes, as it is not as dense as normal air and thus would not generate the amount of lift required to keep the airplane flying. Methane can cut out an aircraft engine with very little levels of it in the atmosphere. Tidal waves Main article: Freak wave Research has shown that tidal, freak, or rogue waves can reach up to 30 m (100 feet) in height and are capable of sinking large ships within moments. Although these are very rare, in some areas ocean currents mean they happen more often than the normal. Such waves have now been hypothesized as a cause for many unexplained shipping losses over the years. Some research suggests that some of these waves are caused by giant bubbles of methane rising to the surface. These giant bubbles are created when methane vents at the ocean bottom become clogged; then pressure builds up and eventually the gas bursts out and rises rapidly to the surface thus generating the wave. Research has shown that such bubbles are able to sink scale sized ships with great ease and speed. Famous incidents Flight 19 Main article: Flight 19 One of the known Bermuda Triangle incidents concerns the loss of Flight 19, a squadron of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger torpedo bombers on a training flight out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 5, 1945. According to Berlitz, the flight consisted of expert Marine Corps aviators who, after reporting a number of odd visual effects, simply disappeared, an account which isn't entirely true. Furthermore, Berlitz claims that because the TBM Avenger bombers were built to float for long periods, they should have been found the next day considering what were reported as calm seas and a clear sky. However, not only were they never found, a Navy search and rescue seaplane that went after them was also lost. Adding to the intrigue is that the Navy's report of the accident was ascribed to "causes or reasons unknown". While the basic facts of Berlitz's version of the story are essentially accurate, some important details are missing. The image of a squadron of seasoned combat aviators disappearing on a sunny afternoon is inaccurate. Rather, it was a squadron of lost, inexperienced flight trainees forced to ditch their out-of-fuel airplanes into unknown stormy waters in the dark of night. As for the Navy's report, it is claimed that the original report blamed the accident on the commander's confusion (Lt. Taylor abandoned his airplanes twice in the Pacific after getting lost returning to his carrier), but the wording was changed in deference to the wishes of his family. Another factor to consider is that the TBM Avenger Aircraft were never designed for crash-landing into water. Wartime experience in the Pacific showed that an Avenger aircraft would sink very quickly if landed on the water. Especially with novice pilots at the helm - an Avenger would be very difficult to land on calm water - let alone the perilous rough seas in the Bermuda Triangle. Star Tiger If the disappearance of Flight 19 had been an isolated incident, it would have remained one of the great mysteries of modern aviation. However, aircraft disappearances continued to be reported near the same location, some accompanied by equally extended and confusing radio traffic, including that of a four-engine Tudor IV airliner named Star Tiger, in the predawn hours of January 31, 1948. Piloted by Captain B. W. McMillan, the airliner, which carried twenty-nine passengers and crew on board, had left hours earlier from Santa Maria, Azores, one of numerous scheduled fuel stopover points on its route from London, England to Havana, Cuba. While approaching Bermuda, McMillan made the expected contact with Kindley Field, the next stopover, requesting a radio bearing to calibrate his navigation systems and ensure he remained on course. With the response indicating that the plane was slightly off course, its position was corrected after Bermuda relayed a first-class bearing of 72 degrees from the island. At this point, with Star Tiger less than two hours flight away, McMillan gave confirmation of an ETA of 05:00 hours, an hour late due to strong headwinds; no further transmission from the aircraft was ever received. Armed with precise reports of the plane's last known position, rescue operations were launched after the craft was determined overdue for arrival; but no trace of the aircraft was ever found. In the report issued soon thereafter by the Civil Air Ministry, numerous hypotheses as to what might have occurred during the flight's final two hours are given, before each being subsequently rejected: "There would accordingly be no grounds for supposing that Star Tiger fell into the sea in consequence of having been deprived of her radio, having failed to find her destination, and having exhausted her fuel." "There is good reason to suppose that no distress message was transmitted from the aircraft, for there were many radio receiving stations listening on the aircraft's frequencies, and none reported such a message." "...The weather was stable, there were no atmospheric disturbances of a serious kind which might cause structural damage to the aircraft, and there were no electrical storms." It was ruled that the aircraft could not have gone off course, as the broadcast bearing from Bermuda, with winds prevailing, would have brought it within thirty miles of the island: "The aircraft could hardly have failed to find the island in a short time, in the conditions of visibility which prevailed." Engine difficulty was ruled out as a likely cause, since at such late stage in the flight, without the added weight of extra fuel aboard, the aircraft might have been flown safely on three, or even two, engines instead of the four it had. The probability of the aircraft entirely losing three engines in the course of under two hours was considered absurd. Faced with the accumulation of evidence, or perhaps lack thereof, the board of investigation addressed the loss of the Star Tiger with remarked eloquence: "In closing this report it may truly be said that no more baffling problem has ever been presented for investigation. In the complete absence of any reliable evidence as to either the nature or the cause of the accident of Star Tiger the Court has not been able to do more than suggest possibilities, none of which reaches the level even of probability. Into all activities which involve the co-operation of man and machine two elements enter of a very diverse chaarcter [sic?]. There is an incalculable element of the human equation dependent upon imperfectly known factors; and there is the mechanical element subject to quite different laws. A breakdown may occur in either separately or in both in conjunction. Or some external cause may overwhelm both man and machine. What happened in this case will never be known and the fate of Star Tiger must remain an unsolved mystery." 2 years ago http://miss-aishwaryarai.page.tl
To all Americans read this and even other nationals maybe you understand why terrorism is in Usa? The destruction of the world trade centre and the attack on the pentagon has been described as the greatest act of terrorism. However history demonstrates that the most horrific acts of Terrorism has been carried out by the freedom loving democratic nation, the United States of America . According to their own Official FBI definition of terrorism: “Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” IRAQ : From 1991 to the present day the United States Air Force and Navy have slaughtered over 200,000 civilian people in Iraq with Depleted Uranium missiles, cluster bombs, cruise missiles and other so-called “smart bombs.” During the “Desert Storm” terror campaign the arsenal also included fuel-air bombs and napalm. 177 million pounds of bombs were dropped on the people of Iraq in the most concentrated aerial bombardment in the history of the world. In the 110,000 sorties of the six-week onslaught the cowardly American and British pilots (and to a lesser extent French and Saudi pilots) mass-murdered at least 200,000 people, using depleted uranium missiles, napalm, cluster-bombs, fuel-air bombs, cruise missiles and other so-called “smart bombs.” The slaughter of civilian people in the Amariyah bomb shelter was a Prime example of this American/British state terrorism. Most of them were women, children, elderly, and invalids from a new housing development. Cowardly U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force jet pilots caught one sixty-mile-long column of fleeing Iraqi soldiers and Palestinian civilian families in vehicles on the Kuwait to Basra highway - and pounded them ruthlessly with bombs and machine-gun fire. The road, clogged by four lanes of one-way, bumper-to-bumper traffic, was carpet bombed by B-52s dropping 1,000-pound bombs, and repeatedly hit with laser-guided missiles and “smart” bombs. All the Iraqi soldiers, as well as Palestinian workers and their families, were slaughtered without mercy. The bloodthirsty American pilots gleefully described the massacre as “shooting in a sheep pen.” During the Desert Storm terror campaign at least 944,000 rounds of Depleted Uranium ammo were fired from American A-10 Warthogs all over Iraq and Kuwait . When a depleted uranium tipped shell strikes a tank or armoured personnel carrier it easily penetrates the armour and burns the crew alive. The impact also vaporizes the depleted uranium, creating an aerosol of radioactive heavy-metal particles which can spread as far as 190 miles on the wind. When inhaled or ingested, the depleted uranium particles cause chemical and radioactive damage to the bronchial tree, kidneys, liver and bones. Cancer often results, and the effects can even include genetic damage. The Dutch Laka Foundation estimates that the United States terror campaign left behind 300-800 tons of radioactive waste from this ammunition all over Kuwait and Iraq - poisoning the air, the land, the water and the people everywhere. Afterwards, wherever the depleted uranium firing had been concentrated, there were cancer epidemics among Iraqi civilians living nearby. In the ten years since then, sanctions, polluted water and depleted uranium together have killed somewhere between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 Iraqi civilian people. At least 600,000 of the dead are children. Cancer rates have quadrupled in areas of southern Iraq bombed by the American and British state terrorists. Since it began, thousands of Iraqi babies have been born with horrible birth defects. This is something that has never before been seen in Iraq . Over the course of only 43 days and nights, approximately 62,000-80,000 air-delivered cluster bombs were dropped on the Iraqi people by the American-led state terrorists. In addition, 10,000 MLRS rockets and 100,000 “Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munition” artillery shells were fired. All this translates to about 24-30 million “sub munitions” or bomblets. Assuming a dud rate of 5%, it is estimated that the number of Dangerous land-mine cluster bomblets lying on or just under the surface of the ground in Iraq and Kuwait would be from 1.2 to 1.5 million. At least. In the desert, however, the percentage of these duds rose to 30%. So the number of unexploded ordnance still lying in wait for unsuspecting Iraqi children and civilian people could be as high as 7 to 9 million bomblets. A Human Rights Watch report says that of the estimated 24 to 30 million bomblets dropped during the Desert Storm terror campaign, the 1.2 to 1.5 million (at least) that did not immediately explode led to the bloody deaths of 1,220 Kuwaiti and 400 Iraqi people - mostly children - and over 2,500 maimed. And that was in just the first two years after the end of the “war.” So the American/British systematically targeted Iraq 's civilian infrastructure. Schools, hospitals, factories and every industry connected to food production, water purification and irrigation were targeted for destruction. U.S. Air Force and Navy pilots destroyed a baby formula plant, food warehouses, pharmaceutical plants, fertilizer plants, pesticide plants, storage facilities, refrigeration facilities, electrical generation and communication plants and every single grain silo in the country. All these were destroyed in order to intensify the impoverishing effect of the sanctions. In the process, U.S. and British pilots slaughtered at least 200,000 Iraqi men, women and children. And of course all these murdered human beings were dismissed by the Pentagon as “collateral damage.” In the 10 years since that carnage, the United Nations estimates that over one million Iraqi civilians – including 600,000 children below the age of five - have died as a result of American sanctions alone. One of the most important strategies of the 1991 terror-campaign against the civilian Iraqi people was the bombing of numerous water-purification plants. After that, the American sanctions prevented Iraqis from getting enough replacement parts to repair most of the plants. So, just as the evil U.S. and British governments planned, the lack of clean drinking water in Iraq has caused a massive human catastrophe. It is contaminated water, more than anything else, that is killing Iraqi babies and small children, by the thousands, every month. Because they are the most vulnerable they are dying from diarrhea and dysentery primarily, and also diseases such as typhoid, hepatitis, cholera and polio - all caused by bacteria and viruses within the contaminated water. And just to make the whole diabolical scheme complete, the American sanctions also prevent the Iraqis from acquiring sufficient medicine to treat these deadly diseases. In an interview of Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on CBS's 60 Minutes, correspondent Lesley Stahl asked her if the death of these 600,000 Iraqi children was “worth it.” Albright's reply: “...we think the price is worth it.” General Colin Powell when asked about the number of Iraqi people who were slaughtered by Americans in the 1991 “Desert Storm” terror campaign: “It's really not a number I'm terribly interested in.” “If they turn on the radars we're going to blow up their goddamn SAMs [surface-to-air missiles]. They know we own their country. We own their airspace... We dictate the way they live and talk. And that's what's great about America right now. It's a good thing, especially when there's a lot of oil out there we need.” U.S. Brig. General William Looney Washington Post, August 30, 1999 - referring, in reality, to the brutal mass • murder of hundreds of civilian Iraqi men, women and children during 10,000 sorties by American/British. PALESTINE : Since September 29, 2000 the Israeli Army, together with violent gangs of Israeli “settlers,” have launched a massive military assault on the Palestinian people. In this latest onslaught the Israelis have murdered over 600 people so far, including many children, and injured over 15,000, many severely Of these 15,000 people, over 1000 have sustained serious physical or neurological injuries requiring long-term health care. The Israelis have surrounded all Palestinian villages and blocked all exits, refusing to allow those with severe injuries to get medical help outside. Meanwhile the Israeli Army fires into the villages with missiles from Cobra helicopter gunships and with shells and heavy-gauge ammo from tanks. Israeli invaders of the West Bank , who are given the misleading name of “settlers,” actually live in hilltop fortresses above many of the Palestinian villages. From these fortresses the “settlers” fire at will down on the unarmed Palestinian people below. In addition to murdering people, the Israeli military is extensively targeting infrastructure, with the intention of destroying the Palestinian economy. Under the guise of “retaliation,” “destroying sniper hiding places” or “protecting Israeli settlers,” Israeli helicopter gunships have fired missiles into Gaza TV studios, factories, office suites, police stations and administrative centers of the Palestinian Authority, destroying them all. VIETNAM : American Genocide of the Vietnamese People, 1945-1974 “I would like to say that several months ago in Detroit we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia. They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam, in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.” John Kerry Navy lieutenant, leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War in testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee 1971 During the Kennedy and Johnson administrations the number of murderous U.S. military personnel invading Vietnam jumped from 23,000 in 1963 to 184,000 in 1966. During 13 years of America's war against the people of Vietnam 8000,000 Tons of bombs (like Napalm and cluster bombs) and defoliants (Agent Orange) were dropped in total - and at least 3 MILLION Vietnamese people were slaughtered. During the Vietnam Genocide there was even an official CIA program of systematic terror, torture and mass-murder called Operation Phoenix. CAMBODIA : The direct American genocide of the Cambodian people lasted from 1969 to 1975. After that the Khmer Rouge, America 's covert clients, took over the job. Estimated civilian deaths: 2,000,000 - 2,500,000 people From the U.S. Air Force carpet • bombing and the Khmer Rouge combined. From Derailing Democracy by Dave McGowan: Not content with the destruction being wrought upon Southeast Asia, the U.S. began a massive covert bombing campaign against Cambodia , resulting in famine, economic chaos, and a staggeringly high death toll. The desperate conditions created by the bombing set the stage for the Rise to power of the Khmer Rouge, resulting in yet another round of death and destruction for the besieged country. >From Rogue State by William Blum: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^... Cambodian Prince Sihanouk was yet another leader who did not fancy being an American client. After many years of hostility toward his regime, including assassination plots and the infamous Nixon/Kissinger secret “carpet bombings” of 1969-70, Washington finally overthrew Sihanouk in a coup in 1970. This was all that was needed to impel Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge forces to enter the fray. Five years later, they took power. But the years of American bombing had caused Cambodia 's traditional economy to vanish. The old Cambodia had been destroyed forever. Incredibly, the Khmer Rouge were to inflict even greater misery upon this unhappy land. And to multiply the irony, the United States supported Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge after their subsequent defeat by the Vietnamese. LAOS : The United States Air Force dropped the equivalent of a planeload of bombs every eight minutes for nine years on the people of Laos, from 1965 to 1973 - over 2,000,000 tons. This was some of the heaviest aerial bombing in world history. Estimated civilian deaths: 500,000 people The United States dropped an estimated 285 million cluster bomblets all over Southeast Asia during the course of the Vietnam War - seven bomblets for every man, woman and child. By 1973 it was estimated that there were at least nine million unexploded bomblets still lying on Laotian territory. As much as half a million tons of unexploded ordnance (primarily cluster-bombs) remains littered all over the Laotian countryside - 35 years later. Every year, throughout all these past 35 years, hundreds of innocent Laotian children and civilian people are murdered or maimed by American cluster-bombs. Bombs dropped by United States Air Force crews. >From Rogue State by William Blum: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^... The Laotian left, led by the Pathet Lao, tried to effect social change peacefully, making significant electoral gains and taking part in coalition governments. But the United States would have none of that. The CIA and the State Department, through force, bribery and other pressures, engineered coups in 1958, 1959 and 1960. Eventually, the only option left for the Pathet Lao was armed force. The CIA created its infamous “Arme Clandestine”- totaling 30,000, from every corner of Asia - to do battle, while the US Air Force, between 1965 and 1973, rained down more than two million tons of bombs upon the people of Laos, many of whom were forced to live in caves for years in a desperate attempt to escape the monsters falling from the sky. After hundreds of thousands had been killed, many more maimed, and countless bombed villages with hardly stone standing upon stone, the Pathet Lao took control of the country, following on the heels of events in Vietnam. KOREA : Between 1950 and 1953 the greatest devastation was of course inflicted upon the civilian people of North Korea . The United States Corporate Mafia Government and military were terribly frustrated by the heroic determination of the Korean people and their Chinese allies to be free of American domination. To teach them the “virtues” of the American way, the Pentagon began a deliberate campaign of bloody genocide from the air and on the ground beginning in June 1950, using 20 times more napalm against the Korean people than it used in World War II. It was during the Korean Genocide that American military personnel first started using the term “****.” Many subhuman Americans felt it was okay to slaughter Korean children and rape Korean women because they were all just “gooks.” This sort of bestial racism is a tradition in the bloodthirsty United States military. War criminals always attempt to justify their own evil inhumanity by imagining their victims as being less than human. By the end of America's genocidal assault nearly 3 million civilian people in North Korea had died horribly, either directly from American bombing and massacres or from war-related causes such as starvation and disease. The events in Sinchon County are a typical example of American war crimes in Korea . SINCHON: Sinchon was considered a Communist stronghold when American troops occupied the town in September 1950. By the time a North Korean and Chinese counter-offensive was able to drive them out in early December 1950, racist American troops had already managed to mass-murder 35,383 people- one out of every four of the county's 140,000 inhabitants. To this day a local museum carefully chronicles the extent of U.S. war crimes in Sinchon: Americans burned 5,484 dwellings and destroyed 618 factories, public buildings and irrigation facilities, committing the cold-blooded murder of tens of thousands of people in the process. Then, when American troops were forced to retreat, they took revenge on women and children. In order to make the world safe for democracy, American troops murdered 900 helpless civilian people in an air-raid shelter by pouring gasoline into the shelter's ventilation hole and setting it on fire. In Wonam-ri , North Korea , American troops locked 502 women and their children in two storehouses and then burned them all alive too. This was done in December 1950, while American politicians and military leaders preached from every pulpit about the terrible threat of “Godless Communism.” “No refugees to cross the front line. Fire everyone trying to cross lines.” 8 th Cavalry Regiment communications log two days before the No Gun Ri massacre. “American soldiers played with our lives like boys playing with flies.” Chun Choon-ja - a 12-year-old Korean girl in 1950 survivor of the No Gun Ri massacre I TRIED TO EDIT IT BUT COULDNT BECAUSE THE CRIME IS SO MUCH IT DOESNT GET LESS THAN THIS BUT I DID REMOVE THE ONES IN JAPAN AND CAMBODIA
