Auto Air conditioning ac, strange vapor or mist and mild smell coming out of air vents. Any ideas ? There is a mist or vapor, similar to breath in a freezer, it has a slight odor I cannot describe it. In a 2006 Toyota Prius, does turning on Auto Air Conditioning waste gas? I commute from Berkeley (65 in the summer) to Pleasanton (90 in the summer), so I'd like to set my Auto AC to 72 and leave it there. But I'm worried that it will run the AC compressor even when it's cool outside, thus reducing my gas mileage. So to be very specific: Suppose it's currently 70 degrees in the car, 65 degrees outside, and my Automatic Air Conditioning is set to 72 degrees. Will the Prius still run the AC compressor, reducing my gas mileage for no good reason?

Auto Air conditioning Problem I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM 3.4L V6. Recently my air conditioner started acting strange. When I set the speed to 1 or 2 it blows just fine, but when I set the speed 3 or higher the air conditioner makes a loud vibrating noise. It still blows cold air but the sound is annoying and I don't want to risk any further damage but running it on high. I don't know if I need a new compressor or maybe if the blower is broken or it could simply be the belt. What's wrong with it?

Need auto air conditioning help? I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The a/c quit blowing but will come on. When I turn the fan speed switch I can hear the relay switches under the dash clicking but nothing happens. I tested the fan motor and it works fine but when I test the plug to it I get no fire. A question about re-charging auto air conditioning with r-134a? When i check the guage reading to see if the a/c needs recharged(with the car running and a/c on high),the guage says its just below normal level but when the pump kicks on it says its at normal level.Am i suppose to read the guage when the pump is kicked in or out?One other thing--when adding the new refridgerent,is the vehicle suppose to be running or not?Please dont give me the BS about taking it to a pro.I am a fairly decent mechanic but just dont have a lot of experience with a/c.Any help??

Auto air conditioning problem? I have a 2007 Nissan Versa that I just bought about 4 months ago and the A.C. unit takes forever to cool the interior. Not sure what the problem is but it takes about a half an hour to get it at a descent temprature on a 90dg day. I would take it back to the dealership to have it checked but I did have the factory stereo removed and replaced it with an aftermarket, so i'm not sure if it will affect my warranty. Why is it taking so long to cool ? How can I fix it ?.

I lifted the hood after a test drive, on a non high humidity day, and noticed the accumulator had a lot of condensation on it, it was actually dripping down the sides of the accumulator. A-R-A auto air conditioning for a '87 Chevy Sprint...? We had a '87 Chevy Sprint, w/ optional air conditioning(mfd. by A-R-A Air Conditioning out of Grand Prairie, Texas)... The A/C system broke down recently, so we took the Sprint to a A/C specialist, who insisted that A-R-A had just gone out of business a few months earlier... Was he right?... auto air conditioning not cooling sufficently.? My car's air conditioning is not cooling sufficently. Outside temp is about 70. The low side pressure reads in the blue area of the guage on the can of freon that I am using (from Wal Mart). The accumulator does not form much condensation, but it does feel somewhat cold. Auto Air Conditioning Stops Cooling when i idle??? Whn I am parked for a bit with my engine running my engine temp goes up and my a/c stops cooling. When I press the gas pedal to get the RPM's up to 2500 there is a click (sounds like my fan comes on) and the a/c gets cold again. I never have this problem when I am moving. Stinky auto air conditioning? I have a 2002 Toyota Corolla and when I run my air conditioning after it's been a while since I've used it, the air coming out of the vents is really stinky. I understand that it's because the resvoir for the coolant collects moisture and that gets moldy but I don't really know how to get rid of it. I've heard that you're supposed to run the fan with out the air conditioner on for a while to clear out the moisture but I never remember to do that. Has anyone found another way to remedy this problem? I swear the mold is giving me sinus infections!

Auto air conditioning? Took my vehicle in because the air conditioner was running warm. They said my fan needed to be replaced. After this air still warm, starts off cool and them warms up. Took it back again and was told something or another had to be reset after fan was replaced. Still the air is warm after all of that. They said nothing is wrong with the compressor. Does somebody have any idea what the hell is going on here??!! No wonder GMC dealerships are going under with the dumb azz mechanics they employ.

HOME AIR CONDITIONING: Fan, auto, or cool setting? I just moved into my apartment and the thermostat has 3 settings; fan, auto, and cool. It has been on the 'cool' setting and never shuts off unless I adjust the temperature up. Is it more efficient to set it to 'auto'? Also what is the difference between all 3?

Can someone give me an estimate to fix a leak in my Auto Air conditioning? I have a 1991 Acura legend. I have a mechanic who works out of his house in his spare time who just recharged my system but it is starting to blow out warm air again. I just want to know how much I need to save up if I decided to let an Auto repair shop fix it instead of him, even though he is an actual licensed mechanic. Why does automobile air-conditioning waste gasoline? To me it makes sense that the use of air conditioning to keep cool in an automobile would waste water and Freon. How does gasoline interact with auto air conditioning?

Auto air conditioning issue AC works marginally, according to the mechanic the compressor is good, freon stays in, but right after a charge it will work for about 15 minutes then will work on and off or just mildly cool, if we try to charge it, it does not need freon, next thing the mechnic wants to try is the liquid line, this is a 2001 3/4 ton dodge diesel 2500. I am a female that is NOT mechanically inclined, so I cannot tell if he is sure of what he is trying -- any suggestions?

auto air conditioning problem.....sometimes??? 2007 chevy EQUINOX 23000k miles. Sometimes when driving for a long time the air-conditioner start out fine and then some type of vapor starts coming out from the vents. After that the air slowly starts to get not so cold. I shut unit off wait 5-10 minutes and turn back on and everything works ( cold ) again.....for a while then the same thing starts all over again. BUT THE NO MORE VAPOR. At night the air is very nice and cold. So I'm really lost here. This problem does not happen all the time. ONLY WHEN IS VERY HOT AND I"M GOING FAST. could this be the thermostat sticking? the car has enough freon and coolant in it. can you help??? I cant figure it out//////////

Auto Air Conditioning.. Am I getting screwed?? 1993 Ford Explorer. I had to change the A/C pump up in the mountains after the clutch froze up and cut the belt. My mechanic now tells me before he can re-charged the system he has to replace the dryer. Then he will evacuate and re-fill the system. How many cans of 12-ounce, 134a auto air conditioning refrigerant is needed to recharge 1991 Pontiac Firebird? Local garage says it usually takes 2 to 3 cans at about $9 each and $10 to put it in? ALSO: The one can I bought says do not mix with refrigerant 12? How do I know what was in there? I believe we found out that my car "calls" for 12 but I am unable to find it? I have an issue with my auto's air conditioning system? I recharged my A/C system with R-134 regrigerant, as i have done many times before, only to discover that my low side pressure gauge was not working properly, and that i was not actually low on refrigerant. After purchasing a new guage, i realized that the pressure was way to high. So i depressurized some of the excess refrigerant by depressing the shrader valve. Now, when i turn the A/C on, one vent blows cold and the others blow barely cool or warm air. Any idea what i may have done to the system by overcharging it ?

Hoping to avoid inhaling such fumes and nanoparticles (the kind that lodge into your brain forever after inhalation), I keep my windows rolled down and set my A/C to recirculate. I realize that the cab of my truck is not hermetically sealed, however, since when I switch back to A/C it causes my ears to pop as though in an airplane, is this an indication that no outside air penetrating into the interior of my vehicle?

Auto air condition? I have a 01 Chevy Impala. Got it in December of last year.. went drove it , drove good ! Heat worked great. Well it being Dec. didnt even think about the air. So summer rolls around and it's working OK - kinda cool but not cold. . Thne like a month later it wouldnt get could at all. autos - air conditioning? I own a '94 Honda civic and had to have a motor put in it when I first purchased it. The guy that had it before me already had the A/C lines disconnected and they were just reconnected when the new motor was put in. What do I need to do before I can charge this? The vehicle is already set up for R134a. Do I need to have somebody pull the vacuum on it or can I just shoot the refrigerant to it? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks
