Portable Air Conditioner - Which One? - HELP? I need to get a Portable Air Conditioner for my room, which is 12' x 14'. During the summer months, my room reaches temps of 100+ because of my aquarium and the fact that I am on the 2nd story. I was going to order online, but decided to just purchase one locally so I can take it back if I have to. Here are my choices - in the order that I like the best. 1. Everstar 10,000 BTU ($399.99) from Home Depot. This is the only Model that was actually hooked up and seemed to blow pretty cold air! 2. Danby 12,000 BTU ($379.99) from Best Buy. Currently on sale from $399.99. Model # DPAC120068 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8625561&st=portable+air+conditioner&type=product&id=1193452148080 3. Whirlpool 10,000 BTU ($379.99) from Best Buy. Also on sale from $399.99. Model # ACP102PS http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7628686&st=portable+air+conditioner&lp=5&type=product&cp=1&id=1130986343106 4. Amcor NanoMax 9,000 BTU (299.99) also from Home Depot. Cheapest
My portable air conditioner is not doing the job...? My computer room is a converted shop w/ little insulation and a black roof. W/out A/C, the temp goes to 95+ on hot days. I bought a 7000BTU portable unit and it's barely making a difference. Initially, I ran the exhaust hose out the door. That allowed in warm air in. I finally went to Home Depot and bought a dryer vent, cut a hole and installed it properly. The problem is dryer ducting is 4 inch and the exhaust hose is 5 inch. I bought an adapter so I could make the connection so I have run the a/c w/ the door closed for 6 hours and it is currently 92 in here. Does the step down from 5 inch hose to 4 inch make a difference? Or do I just need more horsepower? If so, how much? It DOES blow cold air.
Portable Air conditioner? Best kind? Cheapest? I have a pretty small room and don't want the whole house cooled. I only need my one room to be cooled down, for easier sleeping and such. Is there any recommended brands? The cheapest, but still effective? Where would I get one? P.S. I live in Hawaii, so anyone know the best stores to get one down here? Sears, Walmart, Home Depot?
Everstar MPM1-10CR-BB6, I lost the manual and the water light never goes on anymore.? I bought this portable air conditioner from Home Depot a little over a year ago and it was working fine until 6 months ago. The "water indicator" light use to go on every 3 days or so and then I would drain it. However, starting 6 months ago, the water indicator light no longer comes on and the unit doesn't cool my living room anymore. I tried to just drain it or pressed and held "turbo" but the blinker for that never came on either. Usually pushing "turbo" forces the extra water to drain out. Does anyone know what I should do? Or does anyone have a copy of the owner's manual? I lost it. Thank you.
how do i approach customers? I just started working for a company that installs cooling and heating units [air conditioners], who has worked a deal with the home depot. what i do, is stand next to a portable A.C. unit in the middle of the depot and pretty much hassle the customers walking by about getting a free home estimate. How do i get them to come talk to me, with out being annoying, and convince them to buy an A.C. unit, because im sure you can imagine thats not an easy thing to sell, unless they are already in the market for one.
